Where to find a good VPS
published on
It is impossible for anyone to tell you where you should host your website because your needs may be different to theirs. However, it is possible to suggest some places that would work for your use case once this is known.
In any case, this post is about reccomending companies who I have purchased a VPS (virtual private server) from in the past that have worked well for me.
VPS systems I would reccomend
For cheap systems (especially their deals) that work very well I have used
- Racknerd - Most of their VPS systems are based in America but you can choose from multiple locations depending on where your target audience is based. If you are lucky you may be able to pick up a European one however.
Others I have used tend to be a bit more expensive. However, sometimes these services are a little more reliable or offer something extra such as DDOS protection. The ones I have used so far are
- Shock Hosting - Very quick and reliable systems in a range of locations across the world. You get fast processors and some DDOS protection included.
- HostMedia - These provide a range of services which include free DDOS protection. They also commit to climate sustainability if this is important to you.
- AlphaVPS - You get a range of services from this company covering all sorts of customer needs. They don't offer as many locations as others but I've had extremely reliable, cost - effective, services from them.
Higher - end professional options
These providers may be considered more reliable. Usually they have higher uptime levels - or at least better compensation when uptime is not maintained. They are also more expensive though.
These providers include Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Hetzner, OVH, Digital Ocean, Linode and Vultr.
